One Month Notice - Notice of Intended Marriage

It's no secret that you need to submit your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) to your marriage celebrant before you get married. The notice of intended marriage needs to be submitted to your celebrant no less than "One Calendar Month" before the date they intend to get married.

The question is then raised "What is a standard calendar month" - I am so glad you asked!

One calendar month in this case refers to the corresponding day in the next month, or 31 days. Whichever is required. For example - You can Submit your intent to marry on the 31 March, but you cannot get married on 31 April because it doesnt exist. You'd then be able to get married on 1 May. When the days match up, they match up exactly. You can submit your intent to marry on 14 Jan, and get married on Valentines day - 14 Feb.

When you submit your NOIM to your celebrant, you'll need to provide proof of your PLACE and DATE of birth. This usually includes your Birth Certificate and your Driver's Licence. If you don't have these, a Passport can suffice for both. There may be alternate options available for you if you're missing any of the above, chat with your celebrant for options.

It is also worth noting that the NOIM is VALID for 18 months from the date you submit it. This can be useful if things change, you then have the ability to work with your celebrant to book a new date. Keep in mind though, celebrants are usually booked well in advance. When you find one that you click with, it is a great idea to submit the NOIM to them as soon as you can to make sure your preferred date is secured. Waiting till the last minute would not be a great idea.

Have you got a particular date in mind? Why not get in touch today to discuss and plan your day? Remember, it's all about you. Your day, Your way!
